Good fencing gives you privacy and a clear boundary. Good decking gives you somewhere level to sit where the ground won’t take a patio.
We build both as part of the garden, not as an add-on. They’re set out to suit the layout, the slope and the way the light falls, and built to cope with Scottish wind and rain.
Posts are the part that fails in high winds, so they get the most attention. Every run is set out straight, level and solid before a single board goes on.
In Scotland, most garden fences up to 2 metres high don’t need planning permission. Next to a road or in front of the house, the limit is usually 1 metre. Decking generally doesn’t need permission if the floor is no more than 0.5 metres above the ground. Listed buildings and conservation areas have their own rules, and we’ll tell you at the site visit if anything needs checking with the council.
Composite costs more up front but needs almost no maintenance and won’t rot or splinter. Timber is cheaper to install and looks natural, but needs regular treatment, especially in a wet climate.
Good-quality composite boards are textured for grip. Like any outdoor surface, they can be slippy with algae or frost in shade.
Yes. We’ll remove and dispose of the old fence. If it’s a shared boundary, it’s worth agreeing it with your neighbour first.
